A new comedy festival for Manchester

Run by the people behind a series of successful comedy festivals around the UK, as soon as the Laughterama team got in touch, we knew this new comedy festival was going to be an exciting brand to create.

With a lineup featuring a compilation of the biggest names in stand up – alongside emerging talent – the headliners would speak for themselves, so it was important that the event visuals conveyed the lively and unique urban venue at Castlefield Bowl, which would also offer the city’s best street food and drink.

We worked with illustrator James Daw to create a hero poster scene, with a surreal depiction of the five night long event, at the canalside open air venue, under its red brick arches. James’ fun-filled and offbeat character drawings suggest the diverse collection of personalities onstage.

We designed a distorted logo suggesting the roars and ripples of laughter rising from the amused audience. The illustrations and logo were then applied across large-scale event graphics, projections, merchandise, website and social media campaigns.
