Brand Identity, Art Direction, Signage, Packaging Design
Kota’s ethos is built on a forward-thinking approach to social dining and our identity had to reflect this across a range of touch points.
At the heart of the Eddington neighbourhood, Kota sits within the Turing Locke aparthotel and Hyatt Centric Cambridge hotel complex, with the interiors subtly referencing classical elements from nearby St John’s College.
We hand-rendered the original logo with a quirky reverse-contrast technique, to portray the mixture of classic and modernist forms represented in the location’s architecture.
We based the supporting graphics on Bauhaus shapes, with a mid-century colour palette.
The visual elements needed to be flexible to adapt to many outputs, including business cards, drinks cans and animated for digital banners.
We used recycled paper stocks and food packaging with vegetable-based inks to follow Kota’s devotion to sustainable living.
